Inter-generational Volunteer Program - Children as young as eight can volunteer and contribute to the program. The children love Plaza Fiesta and enjoy having the responsibility of running the program. It is a great way to spend time with your children!
Opportunity to Practice Your Spanish - Because of our current location at Plaza Fiesta, most of the children that participate in our program are fluent in Spanish. Our young volunteers can practice the Spanish they are learning in school and our adult volunters can put the Spanish they learned back in high school or college to use (finally!). Don't be intimidated, the children are very forgiving. All this being said, please note that YOU DO NOT NEED TO SPEAK SPANISH TO VOLUNTEER.
Immerse Yourself in Another Culture - When you step into Plaza Fiesta you will feel as if you have entered into a Latin country. Most of the mall shoppers are Latino and you will be surrounded by the sights, sounds and customs of the Latino culture. Most importantly (at least for us!), you will have many options to enjoy wonderful authentic Latino food. Plaza Fiesta is a beautiful Latino-themed mall that is extremely well managed and which should be enjoyed by all in our community.
Put it on Your Resume - We keep a record of our volunteers and the number of hours they volunteer in the program. This allows high school and college students who volunteer in the program the opportunity to meet community service requirements they may have and to reflect their participation in the program on their resume.
